Arquipélago – Centro de Artes Contemporâneas, located in the city of Ribeira Grande, is a transdisciplinary art center that hosts projects of creation, production and exhibition of contemporary arts. Located in the middle of the Atlantic, Arquipélago aims to promote and consolidate the local artistic and cultural identity by opening it to, and integrating it into, the global cultural dynamics of the contemporary art world, providing an exchange of persons, events and cultures.The programming of Arquipélago is manifested through a diversity of activities that cross the different contemporary artistic languages – visual arts, performing arts, music, architecture, design, illustration, literature and fashion. Besides, the Art Center presents annual exhibitions, individual and collective, inviting to inhabit this space regional, national and international artists, hosts numerous artistic residencies and promotes activities of the educational service.
