Mariano de Melo, aka Marian Sarine, is a multi-instrumentalist, active as the drummer and percussionist for DEAFKIDS. In his solo project, Sarine, he explores the diverse potentials of rhythm as music's most ancestral principle and its most sophisticated resource. His recorded works are a proven search for the natural, transcendental aspects of the cyclical trance—one where his driving power and goal are the gathering of self-knowledge. His music takes inspiration from several sources, such as Charanjit Singh's experiments on modernising traditional North-Indian ragas to an electronic setting, as well as master organist/synth players from different parts of Africa, like Hailu Mergia, Mammane Sani and Hama.
