Kassie Krut started as a solo project by Kasra Kurt of Palm, allowing him to explore electronics while the band focused on guitar music. After Palm disbanded in 2023, Kurt, Eve Alpert, and Matt Anderegg formed a trio in New York, releasing a self-titled debut EP. This EP blends contrasting textures—electric and acoustic, synthetic and organic—creating unique, scratch-made sounds from everyday noises like car alarms and feedback. Alpert’s bold, brash vocals and Kurt’s pitch-shifted falsetto add to the playful, experimental nature of the music. The trio draws influence from a wide range of genres, from dub and grime to hyperpop and electronic body music. Their first release represents a shift in their sound, offering a fresh, transformative approach to rock and electronic music. The result is a fun, immersive experience marked by unusual, metallic sonic textures and a playful commentary on pop culture.
