Some things are seamingly easy. The way Ana Lua Caiano has, in just a few years, established herself as a must-follow artist in the contemporary Portuguese music scene is undoubtedly one of them. With two EPs—Cheguei Tarde a Ontem (2022) and Se Dançar é Só Depois (2023)—and an LP—Vou Ficar Neste Quadrado (2024)— Caiano has solidified her greatest talent: the ability to draw a direct line between traditional Portuguese music and electronic sounds. Through compositions that transport us to an almost forgotten tradition, while grounding us in the present with synthesizers, beat-machines, and the sounds of everyday life, Caiano bridges the past and present, redefining the space beneath her feet. On stage, this one-woman show builds rich atmospheres in real time, layering sounds through loops, synthesizers, and percussion. Hand in hand, foot in hand, at her own rhythm.
