Despite having already been pointed out as the programmer with the best “poker face”, there is photographic evidence of the almost-exact moment when Márcio Laranjeira discovered that Beak>, one of the most coveted headliners of Tremor 2017, would not be coming to the festival. So, in order to let you draw your own conclusions, the stoicism of his “poker face” can be seen in that year’s Tremor aftermovie. Márcio Laranjeira, who during these first four years claims to be plagued by nightmares of planes, canceled flights and airports, believes that the cancellation of the Portishead producer's visit to the islands was one of the best things that happened to the festival. We missed our chance of seeing Geoff Barrow swimming face down in the ocean, but Tremor, according to Márcio Laranjeira, took on a new meaning on that day:
«When Beak> canceled, the first thing I thought was: this is going to be chaotic. They were the biggest artist we had that year and the festival’s advertising itself was made around this concert. I could already imagine people at the ticket office, demanding a refund. And then, when we announced this cancelation, there was not a single request for a ticket refund. That’s when we realized that people come to the festival for the experience, not for the names on the poster. And this gave us a whole new sense of freedom. This effect that is created in Tremor is very surreal, it’s a family effect, and you realize that everyone is in it for the same thing, and that if alterations suddenly need to be made, everything is still fine.»
